Every editing and finishing application can send its viewer to Gradetonic in one of two ways. Grading in Resolve? See Resolve output to your encoder.
Through a video output device (best quality)
Send the timeline to a Blackmagic DeckLink or UltraStudio, or an AJA device, as you would for a client monitor. Connect that SDI or HDMI output to a hardware encoder, or to a capture card in a second computer running OBS.
- Premiere Pro: set the playback device under Preferences › Playback (Mercury Transmit).
- Avid Media Composer: enable your supported video output device for playback.
- Final Cut Pro: choose the device under Window › A/V Output.
- Autodesk Flame: use the broadcast monitor output of your video I/O.
Audio travels along over SDI or HDMI. Menu names differ between versions; follow your software’s manual for the output device.
Through OBS on the same computer
No spare output? Send the viewer to OBS:
- Over NDI: where your software can output NDI (for example with the free NDI Tools from Vizrt), receive it in OBS with the DistroAV plugin.
- As a full-screen window: show the viewer full screen on a second display and capture that display in OBS.
Then stream from OBS with the OBS settings. Add your system audio as a source in OBS if your clients need to hear the session.
This route uses processing power of the editing computer. For long sessions, a hardware encoder on a video output is calmer.
