In 2020 remote review became part of almost every grade, and the tools weren’t made for it. Video calls compress the picture and shift the color. Upload-and-review tools mean exporting versions and waiting for notes. Broadcast streaming systems cost hundreds of euros a month per room.
We built Gradetonic together with De Grot, a post house in Amsterdam, to fix that for our own sessions. The client sees the grade live in their browser or on an iPad, under two seconds behind the suite, with a password on every room.
Running since May 2020
Gradetonic has been running client sessions since May 2020 and has streamed thousands of hours of grading and edit sessions for colorists, editors and post houses. The team has a background in post-production, so support comes from people who know what a session looks like from the inside.
Made for freelancers and small post houses
Buy a pass when you have a review, or run a room of your own on your domain with your logo. No hardware to buy and no long contracts. Directors, DOPs and producers watch from wherever they are, and you spend the session on the grade instead of on exports.
Green hosting
The platform runs in Hetzner data centers in Germany, which run on renewable electricity from hydropower. Energy use is one of the criteria Hetzner selects its hardware and network on.
